Our volunteers represent an integral part of the Food Bank’s success in helping provide food to people in need in our community.

The Food Bank involves many volunteers each week in all aspects of our operation. We welcome and appreciate your time, talent, and interest for the benefit of others in our community. We have individual and group volunteer opportunities.

Warehouse Packing and Sorting

Sorting and packing donated food gives you a "behind-the-scenes" look at how donations from the community are distributed to our hungry neighbors in need.

Volunteer Duties: Inspect, clean, sort, box, and make donations ready for distribution.
Volunteer Hours: Tuesday and Thursday, from 9 am to noon.

Distributions

We have four sites in Nevada County where our volunteers help distribute food to families and individuals in need. To find a location and time that will work for you, please see the distribution schedule (a pdf file) for your area.

Project H.O.P.E.

We need help from reliable drivers who will deliver food during the school year to different school sites as well as to low income housing sites in Nevada County. During the summer we need extra help packing lunches and delivering them to hungry children. This is a great opportunity for high school students.
