Jamba Juice put on a bake sale to benefit The Food Bank! They raised over $250 for us.
A special thanks should go out to the Jamba Juice staff as well as Rachel Voter, manager of Jamba Juice and daughter of The Food Banks Board of Directors President, for creating and hosting this event.
Bridge of Giving - November 4th
The second annual Bridge of Giving event took place on the old Yuba River Bridge. The Food Bank recieved close to $600 from the event, as well as all the donated food. The canned foods lined one side of the bridge, but ran 20 feet short down the other side. There was a bunch more food this year than last year though! Next year, let's aim for lining both sides of the bridge completely!
We'd like to thank Pamela Morey, a realtor for Coldwell Banker and a volunteer here at The Food Bank, for putting on this event.

School Year Snack Program - 8/15
Today marks the first day of school for most kids in Nevada County. For the Food Bank, that means an end to 2007's Summer Lunch Program and the beginning of our 2007-2008 School Year Snack Program.
We provided full lunches to about 175 children a day, Monday-Friday throughout the county at 5 different sites. We also gave out lunches for two week long summer camps for kids.
Now we're switching gears and taking calls from teachers who are ready for the school year and ready for The Food Bank's School Year Snack Program. So far we have ourselves seven different sites with about 750 kids receiving a snack a drink from us Monday-Friday. This number will continue to grow, as we had 15 sites last year and haven't heard from most of them this year yet. Plus, we have two new sites already that we didn't have last school year! We have hope that it'll be an exciting year for this program.
